The scholarships will be funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), which since its inception in 1959 has grown to become one of the most prestigious schemes for international study and professional development in the world. Following the recent successful application to the CSFP, Dr Colm Lowery, Course Director of the MSc in Biomedical Science at UUC said;
“Receipt of this award is indicative of the high quality of our MSc course – the dedication and excellence of our teaching staff, and the highly motivated students who graduate from the course. We are absolutely delighted to have received this award, which is a genuine partnership between developed and developing countries, combining academic excellence with the desire to make a real difference in some of the world’s poorest countries.
The MSc in Biomedical Science at UUC is the UK’s leading programme in its field and currently we have over 400 registered online students from 25 different countries. Previous graduates from the course have been involved in a variety of research projects, which have already had a direct and immediate impact on enhancing patient care and the quality of human health in their own communities.”
Awards tenable in the United Kingdom are funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which provides an annual budget of around £2 million to support scholars from Canada, Australia and New Zealand; and the Department for International Development, which provides and annual budget of some £10 million to support award holders from the remainder of the Commonwealth.
