Jeannette Rankin Foundation’s awards grants
November 30, 2005 - Posted in ScholarshipEach year the Jeannette Rankin Foundation awards grants to low-income women who have a vision of how their education will benefit themselves, their families, and their communities. The JRF grants are for $2000 and will be distributed over two school terms, starting in the fall of 2006. Although the grants are typcially awarded through the recipient’s financial aid office, the funds are not restricted to tuition expenses. JRF grants can also be used for books, transportation, childcare, and other living expenses. Selection is competitive, which means that meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee an applicant will receive a grant. In 2005, JRF gave 55 new grants selected from over 1000 applicants. JRF plans to award 60 new grants in the fall of 2006.
Application review will take place from March through June 2006. The process involves an initial screening followed by three successive levels of review. The names of the new recipients will be posted on this website by July 1, 2006.
