PURPOSE:
The purpose of the STPGA Foundation Scholarship Program is to encourage and promote the attainment of higher education goals for youth who have demonstrated a high level of achievement during high school or college, have financial need, and have shown an interest in the game of golf.

ELIGIBILITY:
It is not required that applicants for the STPGA Foundation Scholarship Program be junior golfers. The applicant’s golfing ability will not be the determining factor in the evaluation process. Details of the applicant’s involvement in golf will be requested in the application. Applicants must reside within the geographic boundaries of the Southern Texas PGA Section.
Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance to meet educational expenses.
Applicants must have completed (or plan to complete) high school in the year applying and must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) as a full time student. The Southern Texas PGA Foundation Scholarship Committee will review class ranking, grade point average (GPA) and either ACT or SAT test scores, the student’s extracurricular activities and financial need. The student should be enrolled in a college-bound curriculum. Distinguished honors should be noted.

The applicant’s high school cumulative grade point average MUST BE AT LEAST 2.5 ON A 4.0 GRADING SCALE or the student WILL NOT be considered eligible for the scholarship program. College students applying for any STPGA Foundation scholarship MUST HAVE A MINIMUM of a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.

The awarding of the Southern Texas PGA Foundation Scholarships is further contingent upon other financial aid, grants, and/or scholarships which may be awarded to the applicant. The STPGA expressly reserves the right to revoke any commitment to extend scholarship benefits to any applicant receiving any other form of financial aid, grants, and/or scholarship for attendance at an accredited four year college or university or an accredited two year college.
