Filipino: CHED 8 announces scholarships available for needy students
December 12, 2005 - Posted in ScholarshipTacloban City (12 December) — In line with the “Education for All” program of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the Commission of Higher Education in Region 8 announces the availability of scholarship programs which students in difficult circumstances may avail of for the coming school year 2006- 2007.
For those who are interested of availing any of the scholarship programs, CHED said that the deadline for submission of application is on January 30, 2006. The Examinations will be on February 26, 2006 at the Asian Development Foundation at Burgos St., Tacloban City.
Interested students may secure application form from the CHED Regional Office or download at www.ched.gov.ph and submit accomplished application form together with required documents to the CHED Regional Office. After paying the examination fee of Php 165.00, the applicant must take the NSQE on the scheduled date, time and venue and wait for the examination results.
Applicant must be a Filipino citizen; must be a high school graduate or a candidate for graduation from high school; must have a general average of 85% if applying for merit or 89% if applying for grant. The applicant’s parents income should not exceed One Hundred Fifty Thousand Pesos per annum. The applicant must be in good physical condition and of good moral character and must not be more than 30 years of age at the time of application.
According to CHED 8 Director Marita Ortiz, there are two kinds of scholarships available. The first one is the Merit and the second one is through grant. Under the Merit system, there is the State Scholarship Program (SSP) which is available to the top 10 of the graduating class and the Private Education Student Financial Assistance Program (PESFA) which is open to high school graduates with general average is 85% or higher.
Under the grant system, a scholarship is available for students whose general average is 80% or higher. The CHED-DND PASUC Study Grant Program, the CHED-OPAPP Study Grant Program for Rebel Returnees, the CHED Special Study Grant Program for Congressional District, Scholarship Program for Indigenous and Ethnic People, the CHED-Senate Study Grant Program, and the CHED Study Grant Program for Solo Parents and their dependents, are some of the other scholarship programs which the young high school graduates in the Region may avail of, Director Ortiz added.

Sir. good afternoon gusto ko po sanang malaman kung bakit 2 consecutive semester na hindi pa po ninyo naibibigay yung php.7,250 at ngayon po ito na po yung pangatlo so php.21 mahigit na po ang utang ko sa school. ako po si ian marc mercado nag-aaral po sa manuel l. quezon university quiapo mla. ang scholarship ko po ay yung pesfa at ga graduate po ako sa 2007 next year po nag apply po ako noong 2003-2007 ang effectivity po nung scholarship.sana po ay mag reply po kayo agad!!thank you! ito po yung e-mail ko ianmarc_mercado@yahoo.com

Good day! Just wanna ask if I can be one of your scholars. I belong to the top 10 of our schools gradute (I’m the 3rd honorable mention of the class 2006-2007). I had also seen my NCAE examination result, and it states that I have only two parts of the examination that is on the average level, the others are at the above average level.

what are the requirements neede to avail your scholarhip programs???
we, the seniors of our respective school did not took the nsat, nevertheless, we took the ncae…..on your application form, the grade we got on nsat is required….but we didn’t 2k the nsat….what are we going to do???
