Rotary Awards Scholarships
December 26th, 2005 - Posted in ScholarshipRotary District 7690, that includes central North Carolina, is looking for students with high academic abilities and strong desires to serve their fellow man to participate in the Rotary Foundation Scholarship program.
Three types of scholarships are offered.
Ambassadorial scholarships with a value of almost $25,000 are awarded for one academic year of undergraduate study in any foreign country that has a Rotary club.
The primary purpose of an ambassadorial scholarship is to have the scholar serve as an ambassador of goodwill while studying abroad.
The selected student agrees to participate in Rotary activities, such as speeches, while in the country, as well as when they return to the United States.
Students must have completed at least 2 years of college by the time their program starts. Three scholarships are awarded in the District.
Cultural scholarships with a value up to $12,000 for three months of language study.
The scholarship is designed to have the student gain proficiency in a foreign language and to contribute to international understanding through studying abroad. Students must also have completed at least two years of college by the time their program starts. Three scholarships are awarded in the District.
World Peace scholarships for up to $50,000 are to be used for a two-year period when the student pursues a master’s degree level study in conflict resolution, peace studies and international relations at one of seven World Peace Centers worldwide. Only 70 scholarships are awarded worldwide, and one candidate may be named from District 7690.
