Irrigation Association awards scholarships
January 14th, 2006 - Posted in ScholarshipThe Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association has awarded $16,000 in scholarships to 25 students for the 2005-2006 school year. These students were selected on the basis of academic accomplishments, leadership, and an interest in
pursuing a degree in an agricultural or horticulture-landscape-related field.
“The IIEA implemented the scholarship program in 1980 with a $500 scholarship to promote education in the industry. Now thousands of dollars are awarded annually to outstanding young men and women,” said Blake Fischer, IIEA scholarship chairman.
The recipients of the 2005 IIEA Scholarship are:
* Derick Attebury, Idaho Falls, received a $750 scholarship to pursue his degree in Environmental Science at the University of Idaho-Idaho Falls. The money for his scholarship was donated by Rain For Rent and Mitchell, Lewis & Staver.
* Quinn Bingham, Wilder, son of Harold and Laurie, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in Accounting/Ag Business at BYU-Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by B.A. Fischer Sales Co. Inc. and Cornell Pump Co..
* Tom Bowen, Burley, son of Bruce and Valerie Bowen, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in M.S. Plant and Soil Science at the University of Idaho-Idaho Falls. The money for his scholarship was donated by PWEagle and Inman Interwest.
* Alan Branch, Malta, son of Nolan and LuAnn Branch, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agriculture at the College of Southern Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Idaho Equipment Co. and IIEA.
* Danielle Breeding, Hazelton, daughter of Scott and Diana Breeding, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agri-Business at the University of Idaho. The money for her scholarship was donated by Lindsay Manufacturing.
* Dacx Duffin, Rupert, son of Dan and Sheila Duffin, received a $750 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural Business at Idaho State University. The money for his scholarship was donated by Valmont Industries and IIEA.
* Neil Durrant, Meridian, son of Richard and Denese Durrant, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agriculture Science and Technology at Boise State University. The money for his scholarship was donated by Rain Bird Sales.
* Marie Fabricius, Fruitland, daughter of Jon and Teresa Fabricius, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agriculture Education at University of Idaho. She is the Karl Bronson Scholarship Recipient. The money for her scholarship was donated by Universal Sales, Growers Supply Co. and IIEA.
* Jeffrey Hartman, Parma, son of John and Sue Hartman, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in
Agriculture and Life Science at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Silver Creek Supply and IIEA.
* Mark Hatch, Buhl, son of Reagon and Susan Hatch, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural Engineering at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Wish Northwest Inc. and Irrigation Accessories.
* John Holman, Red Lodge and Chateau, Mont., son of Lyle and Brenda Weist, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Plant Science at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Nelson Irrigation Corp.
* Wesley Hopwood, Kimberly, son of Rodney and Carol Hopwood, received a $1,000 scholarship to pursue his degree in Biological and Irrigation Engineering at Utah State University. The money for his scholarship was donated by Matco-Norca and Pentair Water.
* Todd Lanting, Hollister, son of A. John and Carolyn Lanting, received a $1,000 scholarship to finish his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. The money for his scholarship was donated by Lake Company.
* Chase Lanting, Hollister, son of A. John and Carolyn Lanting, received a $750 scholarship to pursue his degree in Animal Science and Ag Systems Management at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Hastings Irrigation Pipe Co .and Clemons Sales Corp. .
* Dwight Little, Teton, son of Dwight and Sally Little, received a $1,000 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agribusiness Management at Brigham Young University - Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Fresno Valves and Castings and Travis Pattern and Foundry.
* Luke McCall, Heyburn, son of Jim and Laurie McCall, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural Systems Management at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Gheen Irrigation Works, Senninger Irrigation and IIEA.
* Katie McFarland, Salmon, daughter of Dan and Tracy McFarland, received a $600 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agricultural Science and Technology at the University of Idaho. The money for her scholarship was donated by Layne Pumps Inc. and IIEA.
* Leah Meeks, Jerome, daughter of Jim Meeks and Sharon Meeks, received a $600 scholarship to pursue her degree in BioResource and Agricultural Engineering at California State Polytechnic University. The money for her scholarship was donated by Godwin and Schultz and Action Machining Inc. .
* McKenzey Newcomb, Rupert, daughter of Ross Newcomb and Karen Hylton, received a $500 scholarship to pursue her degree in Agricultural Systems Technology at Utah State University. The money for her scholarship was donated by Sprinkler Shop.
* Scott Orthel, Filer, son of Gerald and Judy Orthel, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural/Environmental Science at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Toro Ag, Carson Industries, and IIEA.
* J.J. Shawver, Eden, son of Peter and Jean Shawver, Eden, received a $750 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural
Business and Management at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Rainbird Agri-Products, Interstate Plastic Inc. and Priest Electric.
* Jaron Soren, Boise, son of Ron and Gayle Soren, received a $500 scholarship to pursue his degree in Horticulture at Brigham Young University-Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Pipeco, Inc., Irritrol Systems and IIEA.
* Ryan Svaty, Caldwell, son of Max and Alita Svaty, received a $700 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural Systems Management at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Kermit and Candy Cochran, Freedom Plastics, and IIEA.
* Joshua Walton, Kimberly, son of Tom and Dala Walton, received $500 to pursue his degree in Agricultural Science and Technology at the University of Idaho. The money for his scholarship was donated by Spears Mfg. and IIEA.
* Shawn Woodward, Paul, son of Arlen and Judy Woodward, received a $600 scholarship to pursue his degree in Agricultural Systems Technology at Utah State University. The money for his scholarship was donated by Butte Irrigation, IPS Weld-On, and Ag Sales.
