Weirtonian Lodge 183 and the Order of the Italian Sons and Daughters have awarded $500 scholarships to 28 students who are lodge members for the 2005-06 school year.

Recipients are:First year - John E. Capito II, son of Dr. John and Darlene Capito of Weirton, attends Wheeling Jesuit University; Courtney Ceran, daughter of M. Matthew Ceran and Lisa Best of Weirton, Franciscan University of Steubenville; Salvatore DeCaria, son of Vincenzo and Belinda DeCaria of Weirton, West Virginia University; Anthony Gianni, son of Robert and Ruth Gianni of Weirton, Wheeling Jesuit University; Thomas J. Weimerskirch, son of Regis and Mariann Weimerskirch of Weirton, West Virginia University; Jacob Meyers, son of Monette Myers of Weirton, West Liberty State College; Jennie Ruth Walters, daughter of William and Mary Walters of Weirton, Fairmont State University; Katherine Weigel, daughter of Patrick and Sharon Weigel of Warrenton, Va., Brigham Young University; and Christopher Gianni, son of Michael Gianni of Weirton, West Virginia University.

Second-year, Adrienne Dulisse, daughter of Joseph and Karyn D’Ulisse of Steubenville, Gannon University; Thomas Grossi of Weirton and the late Lisa Grossi, WVU; Brandon Coxen, son of Larry and Nancy Coxen of Weirton, WVU; and James Guida, son of Dewey and Karen Guida of Weirton, West Liberty.

Third-year, Ashley DeSantis, daughter of John and Demeta DeSantis of Follansbee, WVU; Megan E. Gianni, daughter of Robert and Ruth Gianni of Weirton, WVU; Gina Lastoria, daughter of Greg and Marlene Lastoria of Follansbee, Bethany College; Alexander Sacco, son of Gary and Amy Sacco of Wheeling, Fordham University; Luke Myers, son of Monette Myers of Weirton, West Virginia Technical College; and Kristen Weigel, daughter of Patrick and Sharon Weigel of Warrenton, Va., Christopher Newport College.

Four-year, Melissa Capito, daughter of Robert and Patricia Capito, Vanderbilt University; Anna DeCAria, daughter of Cindy and Dr. Frank DeCAria of Sarasota, Fla., University of Florida; Maria DeCaria, daughter of Vincenzo and Belinda DeCAria, Washington and Jefferson College; Elizabeth Ferrari, daughter of Dr.Norman and Nancy Ferrari of Morgantown, West Liberty; Melissa Michaux, daughter of Don and Susan Michaux of Follansbee, West Liberty; Renato Sinicropi, son of Armando and Nancy Sinicropi of Bloomingdale, West Liberty State; Amanda Moresco, daughter of Anna Patrizio Hilliard of King of Prussia, Pa., University of Pittsburgh.

Chester Grossi, lodge president, said the order gives a scholarship of $300 and the Weirtonian gives each student $200 for a total of $500 per year and a four-year total of $2,000.

Lodge scholarship committee members are John T. Grossi, chairman, and Anthony D’Ulisse, Trent Ciarrocchi, Salvatore Palmieri, and Maria DiBartolomeo.
