Agribusiness/Forestry Scholarships
January 21st, 2006 - Posted in ScholarshipAgribusiness/Forestry Scholarships are now available from the Wisconsin Public Service Resources Foundation, Inc. for the 2006 academic year. The foundation provides the Agribusiness/Forestry Scholarship Program to help young people in our service territory develop skills and leadership abilities related to farm employment and farm management.
Each year, $700 scholarships are awarded to ten students based on a competitive basis. A committee consisting of professional agricultural leaders chooses scholarship recipients.
“The goal of these Agribusiness/Forestry Scholarships is to help young people in our service territory develop the skills, leadership abilities and technical knowledge to meet the challenges of farming or other ag-related occupations,” says Michael Kawleski, agribusiness market leader for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation.
To be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants must be graduating from high school in the current academic year; meet the admission requirements of the selected university or technical college; and be the son/daughter of a customer with a voting residence in Wisconsin Public Service or Upper Peninsula Power Company territory.
The non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to a combination of students who plan to attend a two-year technical college agricultural degree program or the Farm & Industry Short Course offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and students who attend a four-year college degree program in agriculture at specified colleges.
