Six receive scholarships at Colorado Farm Show
January 27th, 2006 - Posted in ScholarshipThe Colorado Farm Show named six recipients of the Chuck Urano Memorial Scholarships at a reception Wednesday evening.
The $1,000 scholarships are named in memory of Urano, an agent with the Weld County Cooperative Extension office who was instrumental in getting the show started more than 40 years ago.
This year’s winners include:
* Nigel Miller is a senior at Kiowa High School. He plans to attend the University of Wyoming to pursue a degree in agribusiness and pre-veterinary medicine.
* Elizabeth Williams is a senior at Elbert High School. She wants to pursue a degree in livestock production once she earns a graduate degree in genetics.
* Stephanie Lebsock is a senior at Fort Morgan High School. She plans to attend Colby Community College for two years in preparation for pursuing a degree in agribusiness.
* Andrea Knodel is a senior at Idalia High School. She plans to attend the University of Wyoming to major in agriculture communications.
* Cortney Hodgson is a senior at Platte Valley High School in Kersey. She plans to attend Colby Community College. She then plans to transfer to Colorado State University to major in animal science/pre-pharmacy.
* Jeffery Sterkel is a senior at Erie High School. He plans to attend Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. He plans to transfer to Colorado State University after two years at NJC to earn a degree in agribusiness or animal science.
