VEA Scholarships for High School
February 4, 2006 - Posted in ScholarshipValley Electric Association (VEA) is once again offering $500 scholarships to three high school seniors who live in VEA’s electric service area and who will graduate in the spring of 2006.
Unlike most scholarships, however, VEA winners are not chosen based directly on their grades or academic standing. VEA scholarship winners are chosen at random from among the names of all those who apply for the three scholarships.
But grades do matter. All applicants must have applied, or been accepted, to a post-high school educational institution - a technical school, college or university - at the time they submit their application. The one-page application forms are available from VEA, and from guidance counselors at high schools in Beatty, Pahrump, Tonopah and Sandy Valley.
In addition, each of the three winners must show proof that they successfully completed their first semester of post-high school academic study carrying a full course load, and that they are signed up to take a full load of courses for their subsequent term, before VEA pays.
VEA High School Senior Scholarship application forms are available by calling the VEA main office in Pahrump at (775) 727-5312; or toll free from inside Nevada at 1-800-742-3330; or online at www.valleyelectric.org. Click on the Member Services bar, and then on the scholarship application heading to print an application.
If you write for an application, please address your envelope to: VEA High School Senior Scholarship, c/o Valley Electric Association, P.O. Box 237, Pahrump, Nevada 89041.
Fully completed applications must be received at VEA no later than 5 p.m. on April 14, 2006.
