Vietnam: State to fund study abroad for 290
February 20, 2006 - Posted in Education News, Study AbroadThe Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has announced that the State will send 290 people abroad for post-graduate training this year.
Specifically, 120 people will go abroad to pursue their Doctorates, while 80 students will study for Master’s Degrees. An additional 90 students will take part in combined courses with part of their training time spent in Vietnam.
Candidates for State scholarships are lecturers, scientists and technicians from universities, research institutes, laboratories, hi-tech centres, state agencies, state-funded political and social organizations and state-owned enterprises.
Those chosen for the program will be trained in the following areas: science and technology, natural sciences, agriculture-forestry-fishing, economics management, art and social sciences and medicine-healthcare. Among them, IT, biotechnology and materials technology are top priorities.
Training will occur in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan, as well as a few other nations. Russia and Eastern European countries will host Doctorate training courses only.
The US will host programs in IT, biotechnology, materials technology, agriculture, architecture, electronics and telecommunications. In the UK, students will study IT, biotechnology, materials technology, agriculture, education, language and other technologies. Participants will go to Australia for instruction in agriculture, education, language and architecture. Russia will host students studying for doctorates in health, music, arts, technology, sports and physical training, and students will go to China to learn about health, medicine, language, literature, economics, planning, construction, agriculture and sports and physical training.
