$100,000 in scholarships up for grabs for USBC High School members
February 24th, 2006 - Posted in Education, ScholarshipThe Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America has announced a new division of the popular QubicaAMF International Family Tournament.
The inaugural North Pointe Insurance $100,000 High School Open Singles Championship will run concurrently with the QubicaAMF IFT at Cedarvale Lanes in Eagan, Minn., July 20 - 22, 2006.
Both tournaments will offer a combined total of $170,000 in scholarships for youth and graduating seniors (2005-06 academic year).
The field is limited to the first 128 male and 128 female bowlers. First place male and female bowlers will win $15,000 in scholarship awards. Scholarships will be awarded up to 42nd place in both the male and female divisions. The winning male and female bowlers will be recognized on the North Pointe High School Bowling trophy, which will be lent for display in their respective high schools for one year.
To be eligible, each bowler must have participated in an organized high school bowling program (varsity or club) registered with the United States Bowling Congress; must be a graduating senior in the 2005-2006 academic year; and must have maintained a confirmed minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale).
Reservations must be made by April 1. Bowlers may enter the tournament directly or through optional qualifying tournaments held by participating BPAA member bowling centers or high school bowling programs.
States that recognize high school bowling as a varsity sport may reserve five male and five female entries. States that recognize high school bowling as a club sport may reserve two male and two female entries by April 1, 2006. Additional entries will be awarded through a lottery after April 1.
The entry fee for the North Pointe Insurance $100,000 High School Open Singles Championship is $50.
