New 4-H Foundation scholarships reward leadership, academics and service

February 28th, 2006 - Posted in Scholarship

The Montana 4-H Foundation has two new scholarship programs for 2006. The Wilcox Family Scholarship will provide one $500 scholarship. Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply Scholarship Program is providing four awards of $1,000. Murdoch’s is an official sponsor of Montana 4-H.

The scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at a Montana university, college or trade school. Applicants will be considered based on characteristics of leadership, community service and academic excellence, and the scholarships are not targeted to a specific field of study. In order to qualify, students must complete an application, provide letters of reference and have participated in Montana 4-H for at least three years.

Applications for these and other 4-H scholarships must be received by the Montana 4-H Foundation by May 1. For more information, visit http://www.montana4h.org. Under “Foundation,” click on “Program Support” then “Scholarships.”

The Montana 4-H State Awards Committee, comprised of staff from the Montana 4-H Foundation and MSU’s 4-H Center for Youth Development, will review the applications. Foundation board members and 4-H youth also serve on the committee.

The Montana 4-H Foundation raises private funds and manages financial resources to further educational opportunities for youth, volunteer leaders and staff of Montana 4-H, which is the youth development program of MSU Extension.
