Courses Offer CEU’s for Members To Maintain ‘Professional Designation’ Status

The only organization offering certification for escrow professionals in California has begun offering courses online. The California Escrow Association (CEA) has announced that it is offering two online continuing education courses for escrow professionals, who unlike real estate agents, are not professionally licensed or regulated.

The new online courses are the first to be offered by CEA, which plans to have as many as ten courses offered online by the end of the year. Online education offerings make it easier for escrow professionals to complete relevant coursework by eliminating the need to travel.

Escrow officers, who generally work long hours, will be able to take courses at their own pace–at any time of the day or night– and print out certificates immediately upon passing each course’s final exam. CEA membership and continuing education is entirely voluntary and sets CEA members apart from their peers in the escrow field.

Professional Designation by CEA is the only form of certification available for escrow professionals in California. Professional Designation (PD) is advanced certification and demonstrates that PD holders are among the most knowledgeable and well-educated escrow professionals in their field. Professional Designation holders are required to earn continuing education credits and maintain membership status in CEA as a requirement of their designations.

CEA’s two new online offerings include “All-Inclusive Trust Deeds and Land Contracts” and “Agency Status of Escrow Holder.” The online courses are self-paced and include a comprehensive examination at their conclusion.

The courses are available through the CEA Web site, www.ceaescrow.org. Course fees are $45.00 per unit for CEA Members and $90.00 per unit for non-members; a unit is defined as one-hour.

Founded in 1956, the California Escrow Association (CEA) is a statewide organization for professional escrow practitioners with more than 2,000 members. The organization is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in escrow through continuing education and legislative advocacy. CEA is the only organization throughout California offering a statewide program for professional designation of escrow officers based on comprehensive examination.
