The Art on the Square Committee announced it will award two $500 scholarships in June at the Breakfast for the Arts.

One of the scholarships is sponsored by Sky Bank, and the other is sponsored by Gary Petricola.

Recipients must attend high school and reside in Tuscarawas County. They must plan to attend an accredited educational institution, college or technical school for the 2006-07 year and major in the fine arts. Applicants also must be participants in this year’s Art on the Square student juried art show June 10-11 in New Philadelphia.

An additional stipulation for the Petricola scholarship is the student must attend Tuscarawas Campus of Kent State University at New Philadelphia.

Guidance counselors at area high schools will have applications in their offices with criteria and guidelines.
