BPW organization awards scholarships, plans events
April 24, 2006 - Posted in Education News, ScholarshipThe Eaton Rapids Business and Professional Women awarded $1,000 scholarships to Kathy Quinn and Tham Doan at its April 17 meeting. The BPW scholarships are awarded to women over 25 who are enrolled in a program for advanced education or vocational training. The Scholarship Committee Chair Alys Hoover was in charge of the meeting.
The last meeting of the Crossroads District will be held in Hastings on Saturday, April 22. Kathy Odell, Jo Gibbs and Pat Hastay will represent the Eaton Rapids club.
The Reality Store for seventh graders will be held Thursday, April 20 at the middle school. Several volunteers from the community will help the ERBPW members staff the various stations where the students make decision on housing, food, transportation, child care, etc. with the income from their chosen professions.
The ERBPW is sponsoring a Canadian theater trip to Toronto on Oct. 6-8. The trip includes: Round trip on a private motor coach from Eaton Rapids and Lansing areas; two nights’ accommodations at the Grand Hotel, including baggage handling for one bag and the bus driver’s tip; tickets to two musicals, “Wicked” and “Lord of the Rings”; optional Saturday morning bus tour of Toronto.
