April 24, 2006 - Posted in College Grant, Education NewsHyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, and Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University will open the first Center for Business Performance Management in the United States with a grant from Hyperion. The announcement was made at Solutions 2006, Hyperion’s global Business Performance Management conference, taking place in Las Vegas April 23 through April 26.
The center will focus on enhancing business management education and research, and will create an interactive forum for academics, professionals and practitioners who are interested in the development and the practice of performance management.
“Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business is committed to delivering the best in management education that will provide the greatest possible opportunity for our students to succeed as they take their place as business leaders,” said Joseph A. Alutto, dean of Fisher College. “With the creation of the Center for Business Performance Management, we are further strengthening our mission of meeting the needs of companies looking to us to provide graduates who understand the most advanced business concepts and practices.”
“With this center, Ohio State University moves to the forefront of Business Performance Management teaching and research,” said Jeff Rodek, executive chairman at Hyperion. “As global businesses demand greater visibility into the factors that drive performance, it makes sense to look at business school curriculum through the lens of performance management. We believe that the Hyperion grant and partnership with the Fisher College will help facilitate innovation through faculty collaboration, multidisciplinary teaching and links with the industry and other universities.”
The Center for Business Performance Management at the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University is the result of two key Hyperion initiatives, the Hyperion Academic Alliance Program and the Alliance for Performance Leadership, working together to prepare students to be leaders in business and Information Technology, and ensuring that the processes and systems that provide performance visibility are made available to students early in their careers.
The Hyperion Academic Alliance Program enables colleges and universities to update their courses and teaching materials to keep pace with rapid changes in technology, providing students with practical learning opportunities to use the Business Performance Management tools that are rapidly being adopted by businesses in every industry.
One of its first initiatives was the opening of a Business Performance Management Research Institute at Peking University Guanghua for integration of academic research and practical application of advanced management methodologies and information technology.
The Alliance for Performance Leadership, made up of visionaries from within the Hyperion customer community, academia and Hyperion’s own thought leaders, will work with the Hyperion Academic Alliance to help schools leverage Business Performance Management solutions to foster best practices in business. This will include providing access to valuable resources for the creation and testing of best practices as well as opportunities to incubate and synthesize ideas.
