The Philadelphia-area Burn Foundation is offering scholarships to young burn survivors to attend a special summer camp.

The Mid-Atlantic Burn Camp is held every year in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia for young burn survivors aged six to 18. The Burn Foundation of Philadelphia is offering scholarships for at least 25 young burn survivors to attend the camp this summer.

Cynthia Rauso is President and CEO of the Burn Foundation. She says young burn survivors tend to self-conscious and isolated:

“The ultimate goal for them to participate in the camp is to boost their self-esteem and to develop kind of a new sense of community — a community of other survivors like themselves.”
