Lee County students have one week to apply for a scholarship offered by the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Staples Office Supply donated to the chamber $10,000 that it will use to award several local students. The chamber awards scholarships every year, but the Staples donation will allow more students to earn money for higher education.

The scholarship money is available for students and adults in a higher education institution or graduating high school.

Applications are available at the chamber office at 17200 San Carlos Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. Applicants can also call the chamber at 454-7500 to have one mailed.

The deadline to submit an application is noon, Wed., May 31. The money will be awarded on Thursday, July 13 at a chamber luncheon.
