Area seniors earn National Merit Scholarships

Seven high school seniors from central and southwest Kansas have been awarded college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships, which provide between $500 and $2,000 annually to students of high academic achievement.

Recipients are: Lara Pracht, Garden City High School, awarded by the University of Kansas; Kelsey Moran, Hays High School, awarded by Kansas State University; Crystal Prieb, Hesston High School, awarded by K-State; John Lloyd, Hutchinson High School, awarded by KU; Kendal Reed, Liberal High School, awarded by KU; Benjamin Histand, Newton High School, awarded by Oklahoma State University; and Levi Schlegel, Greely County High School, awarded by Texas Tech University.
