Students get $1,000 Comcast scholarships

Alexsandra Mitchell, of Bishop McDevitt High School; Angelini Ruiz, of Hallahan High School; Brian Foster, of Imhotep Institute Charter High School; Charae Collison, of Swenson Arts and Technology; Corey Winchester, of Julia R. Masterman Laboratory & Demonstration School; Daniel Lui, of Calvary Christian Academy; Daniel Pinero, of Cardinal Dougherty High School; Ebony Gibbs, of Franklin Towne Charter High School; Eric Halpern, of Washington High School; Jacqueline Fields, of Nazareth Academy of High School.
Also, Jeannie Tso, of Northeast High School; Kierra Baynard, of Benjamin Franklin High School; Marcus Bazemore, of World Communications Charter School; Michael Massimi, of Girard Academic Music Program; Michelle Selby, of Parkway School-Center City; Porschcia Washington, of International Christian High School; Rachel Debarardinis, of Springside School; Samuel Gilbert, of Chestnut Hill Academy; Shanel Burroughs, of Math, Science and Technology Community Charter School; Shannon Custer, of Archbishop Ryan High School; Shannon Garrison, of Abraham Lincoln High School; Vinh Nguyen, of Fels High School, and Zachary Shands, of Cheltenham High School.
This year the program will grant more than $1.7 million recognizing students across the country.
