Mars Hill College has received a $150,000 grant from the Cannon Foundation of Concord to provide laboratory equipment for the college’s new Ferguson Math and Science Center.

Ground was broken in early May for the new facility, which will double Mars Hill’s teaching facilities for math and science, meeting the college’s needs for educating future health professionals, scientists and science teachers for decades to come.

The Cannon Foundation has played an active role in funding the education and educational facilities available to Mars Hill College students since 1972. This grant brings the Cannon Foundation’s total contributions to Mars Hill to more than $1.4 million.

The Cannon Foundation was established in 1943 by the late Charles A. Cannon, who was president and Chairman of Cannon Mills Company for more than 50 years.
