TM Net Launches Online Education Module, B-Smart

TM Net Sdn Bhd (TM Net), the country’s leading broadband internet service provider, Tuesday launched its interactive online education module, B-Smart, as part of its Multimedia in Education Malaysia (MIEM) programme.

The MIEM programme was launched by the company to promote the use of broadband contents and applications in schools.

TM Net chief executive officer, Michael Lai, said that the launch of B-Smart reflected the company’s commitment to help the country establish its information infrastructure and move ahead in its plan to become a knowledge rich nation.

“The best way to achieve this vision is to start it at the school or the grassroot level as the youngsters represent the future generation,” he told reporters after the launch of B-Smart by Deputy Director of State Education, Abdul Latif Idrus, here Tuesday.

B-Smart is the education channel of TM Net’s BlueHyppo portal, which provides various contents to support the education and learning needs of BlueHyppo visitors and other general internet users.

The MIEM programme encompasses various activities including educational based contests, e-learning product demonstrations for students, teachers and parents.

There are also motivational talks and briefings on the benefits of using broadband, jointly brought by the company’s smart partners like Microsoft and Intel.

Lai said the B-Smart educational channel was a tool to make learning an interesting and enjoyable experience.

“We would also like to encourage those involved in the education sector to experience the contents of B-Smart which is one of the best and comprehensive e-learning portals for students,” he said.

“Our ultimate aim is to ensure that all Malaysians have a fair access to the broadband service and consequently the information gateway, while encouraging the culture of acquiring new knowledge through the use of Internet,” he said.
