The Fort Leavenworth Pioneer Chapter of the American Society of Military Comptrollers presented three scholarships June 27 at a fund-raising barbecue.

Melissa Lisenbee received $500, Kelsey Reed received $250 and Clare Thomas received $250.

ASMC presented scholarships to high school seniors and college students of service members and civilians currently working on Fort Leavenworth. Applicants are judged on scholastic achievement, honors and achievements, community service, individual letters and letters of recommendation.

The mission of the national ASMC organization is to promote education, training and professional development in all aspects of military comptrollership. The Pioneer Chapter has pursued that mission by offering continuing educational opportunities for local chapter members, as well as individuals from the Directorate of Contracting and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate. The chapter hosts fund raisers to continue the scholarships.
