Northwest Farm Credit Services is pleased to announce the winners of the 2006 Scholarship Program. Thirty-two scholarships were given to sons or daughters of Northwest FCS customers in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington; six high school students and two college students from each state were awarded $1,000 scholarships.

“Providing scholarships is another way we return value to our customers-stockholders. Our winners are some of the best and brightest students of rural communities throughout the Northwest,” said Northwest FCS President and CEO Jay Penick.

Montana winners include Kari Gillespie of Kevin. Kari graduated from North Toole County High School and is the daughter of Wayne and Roxy Gillespie. She was senior class president as well as the student council president, president of her 4-H club, and National Honor Society president. She plans to attend either Montana State University or South Dakota State University to study animal science and either agricultural business or agricultural journalism.

Another Montana winner is Lacy Gillespie Roberts, also a graduate of North Toole County High School. Lacy is also the daughter of Wayne and Roxy Gillespie and was recently married to Chris Roberts. The couple resides near Bozeman.

Lacy will be a senior this fall at Montana State University-Bozeman and is a College of Ag Ambassador and is involved in Campus Crusade for Christ. She has a double major of agricultural business management and economics.
