Ten librarians receive graduate scholarships
July 2nd, 2006 - Posted in ScholarshipTen Montana librarians have been awarded 25-thousand-dollar scholarships to attend graduate school.
It’s part of the Montana State Library program on Professional Education and Employment for Librarians.
Montana State Librarian Darlene Staffeldt says the goal is to increase the number of librarians in Montana, who have master’s degrees in library science.
Scholarship recipients are required to begin graduate school through the University of Washington distance M-L-S program this fall. They must complete the degree by 2009, and then must work two years at a Montana public school or tribal college library.
The scholarships are funded by a grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
