De La Salle University-Dasmariňas (DLSU-D), in cooperation with the Diocese of Imus, has re-launched the Bishop Felix Perez Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund (BFPMSEF) with an exhibit of the late bishop’s memorabilia at the DLSU-D Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo. Under the auspices of the Office of the Vice President for Development and External Affairs (VPDEA), the fund seeks to provide financial assistance to deserving students of DLSU-D’s College of Education.

A Lasallian alumnus, Bishop Perez was instrumental in bringing the Lasallian education’s presence in the province of Cavite when, in 1987, the De La Salle Brothers acquired the then Emilio Aguinaldo College and University Medical Center which later on became DLSU-D and the De La Salle-Health Sciences Campus. Shortly after his death in 1992, Male Music and Magic, a choral group based in DLSU-D, held a concert to raise funds for student scholarships. The scholarship fund was named after the late Bishop in memory and recognition of his support to the University and his service to the community who served the Diocese of Imus for 22 years. Since then, the endowment fund has grown through the contributions of friends and constituents of the University, particularly the De La Salle Alumni Association, DLSU-D Chapter Inc., who believe that investing in education is the most viable way of helping people help themselves

According to Dr. Myrna Fajardo-Ramos, VPDEA of DLSU-D, “the scholarship endowment fund was re-launched to generate new interest and awareness so that the fund may grow and help more people have access to Lasallian education.”
