Garden City resident Sarah Rosaen was one of four Henry Ford Community College students that recently received a scholarship from the Garden Club of Dearborn to further her education in environmental studies.

The scholarship fund, which was created and funded by the Garden Club of Dearborn, focuses on helping HFCC students who have developing interests or majors in environmental studies, biology, horticulture, botanicals or other studies which have a focus on the environment. “We think it’s important to encourage our youth to explore environmental and horticultural concerns,” said Anina Bachrach, member of the Garden Club of Dearborn. “We want to support the youth in the community (through this scholarship).”

To apply for the Garden Club of Dearborn Scholarship at HFCC, students must have a 3.0 grade point average or higher in science courses and must be enrolled for nine credit hours or more once the scholarship is received. Applicants must be enrolling in courses which will lead to careers in environmental studies.
