Massachusetts Vending Association Scholarship Fund Awards 15 Scholarships
August 3, 2006 - Posted in Education News, ScholarshipThe Massachusetts Vending Association Scholarship Fund, a tax exempt, public charity, has awarded $22,000 in scholarship aid to 15 students whose parents are employed by both operator and supplier member companies. The winners are chosen by an independent evaluation committee of professional educators. This year’s top award of $3,000 was won by Edward J. Abbe, Jr., of East Windsor, Conn. who was sponsored by Vistar. Abbe is entering his senior year at Westfield State College where he is pursuing an undergraduate degree in communications. In addition, the Fund granted five $2,000 awards and nine $1,000 awards to fourteen other worthy applicants.
Since its inception, the fund has granted more than $300,000 in scholarship aid. It is supported by voluntary contributions from the member companies, the proceeds from its annual golf tournament, and the investment income from its funded endowment. This year’s golf outing is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at the Sheraton Colonial Golf Club in Wakefield, Mass. Please contact Allan Z.
