The Caterpillar Excellence Scholarship 2006-2007

The purpose of this award is to strengthen company ties between Caterpillar and Northern Illinois University and to encourage students to major and excel in engineering.

The Award:
Four scholarships valued at $1,500 each for one academic year ($750 per semester) to be distributed to four students with a declared major in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology and is not renewable. The award may be applied to tuition expenses, academic fees, required text, and room/board. However, in no event shall the award exceed the “cost of education” as determined by the Student Financial Aid Office. Application deadline is October 2, 2006.

Eligibility:
􀂃 Candidates must be enrolled at NIU as full-time undergraduate students. Fulltime is defined as a minimum of 12 semester hours of course work per semester.
􀂃 Candidates must be a sophomore or above in the Fall 2006 semester with a declared major in Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Technology.
􀂃 Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.80.
􀂃 Candidates must have demonstrated outstanding leadership and/or leadership initiative.

Requirements:
􀂃 Recipients must remain a declared major in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology for the Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 semesters.
􀂃 Recipients must earn a minimum of 12 semester hours for Fall 2006 and Spring 2007.
􀂃 Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.80.
􀂃 Recipients are requested to submit a Scholarship Report form to Caterpillar.
