Since 1991 the Good Citizen Scholarship Golf Tournament has been raising money for scholarships for students graduating from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School.

Over the past 14 years, more than $99,000 in scholarships has been awarded to students pursuing post-secondary education.

The 15th annual golf tournament is Sept. 10 at Tianna County Club. The three-person scramble includes a putting contest, special games, raffles, a hole-in-one contest on two par 3s and dinner.

Eric Myhra Ford will sponsor a hole-in-one contest, including a two-year lease on a 2006 Ford Fusion for the first person to ace the second hole. The winner also receives a three-day and two-night accommodations package to The Breakers Resort in Palm Beach Florida.

A soup and sandwich lunch begins at 10:30 a.m. with the shotgun start golf tourney beginning at noon.

There are four sponsorship divisions for the golf tournament. The Platinum sponsor is $1,000 and includes a two-team entry fee, the team names posted outside and inside Tianna clubhouse, advertising on a tee box and green and a thank you in The Pilot-Independent.

The Gold sponsorship is $500 and includes a team entry fee, team name posted inside and outside the clubhouse, advertising on a tee box or green and a thank you in The Pilot-Independent.

The Blue sponsorship is $200 and includes name posted inside and outside the clubhouse, advertising on a tee box or green and a thank you in The Pilot-Independent.

The Friendship sponsorship is up to $200 and includes a thank you in The Pilot-Independent.
For those who wish just to play golf, there is a Silver Team entry sponsorship for $360. The fee also includes lunch and dinner.

Sponsorship on all types does not include golf cart fees. If carts are desired, reserve them directly with Tianna Country Club.

Over the last 14 years, the Good Citizen Scholarship Fund has raised more than $335,000. Last year the tournament raised just over $18,600 that was contributed directly to the scholarship fund.
