Free matriculation and other fees, monthly stipend of Php2,500, book allowance of Php2,000 per semester, thesis support of P3,000 and graduation support fee of P500.

These are only some of advantages enjoyed by beneficiaries of the Fisheries Scholarship Program for Children of Fisherfolks (FSPCF) offered by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of Northern Mindanao, this year, Asuncion J. Maputol, Chief of BFAR-10’s Fisheries Extension and Training Division, explained during a Talakayan sa PIA Forum in Cagayan de Oro City.

Meanwhile, millions of Filipino families, including the fisherfolk have been afforded the opportunity to avail of their basic right to health care and attention, which they could not certainly afford but fully deserve from the government through the PhilHealth cards.

“An on-going thrust of social equity to bring the payback of reforms to the doorstep of every Filipino home, the PhilHealth Program is a major part of Pres. Arroyo’s pro-people agenda since 2001 and is never envisioned to gain political ends from it,” Presidential Chief of Staff Michael Defensor said.
