PUBLIC RELATIONS SOCIETY ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
August 26, 2006 - Posted in Education News, ScholarshipMallory Bower of Clarion University, Clarion, Pennsylvania, and Maureen Kolodziej of LaSalle University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have been named the recipients of the 2006 Pennsylvania Public Relations Society (PPRS) Scholarship.
Bower will be a senior this fall at Clarion University. Bower interned at the United Way of Clarion County. After graduation she hopes to showcase her skills in the non-profit world. Kolodziej will be a junior at LaSalle. She hopes to continue her education and obtain a Master’s Degree in public relations. Both recipients are majoring in Communications.
More than 23 applications were received for the scholarship. According to PPRS, it was the largest response to a scholarship to date. “We were pleased with not only the quantity but the quality of scholarship applications-it’s a truly positive reflection on the direction the public relations industry is taking,” said Jennifer Kern, chair of the Scholarship Committee.
The PPRS Scholarship Program was established in 1996 to assist and recognize students for outstanding achievement and commitment to the practice of public relations. The program is open to full-time students in their junior or senior year and majoring in a communications-related discipline at a Pennsylvania college or university.
PPRS is a professional society of more than 150 active public relations professionals throughout central Pennsylvania. Our members represent various types of organizations with expertise in all facets of public relations.
