Teaching Scholarship applications sought

Davidson County Schools will take applications for its Teaching Scholarships Sept. 1 through Nov. 15 and again Jan. 1 through March 15.

All college seniors who have lived in Davidson County for 10 years prior to entering college are eligible. Applicants must have at least a 2.8 grade point average and will be required to obtain a North Carolina teaching certification by the beginning of the school year following their senior year of college. Scholarships are for $3,000 each and require a three-year contract with one of the three school systems in Davidson County.

Applications and guidelines for the scholarships may be obtained from the local Davidson County Schools administrative offices and high schools in Davidson County, Lexington, Thomasville and Denton, local colleges, chamber of commerce offices and the Davidson County manager’s office or on the Internet at www.co.davidson.nc.us.
