New York University Real Estate Institute Awards the Michael F.X. Waters Future Alumni Scholarship

Waters Future Alumni Scholarship for a paper titled “A preliminary review of Sharia compliant valuation methods in Islamic finance and economics†as part of the recent international focus on the global valuation of real estate.
Tom, is a Master’s Degree Candidate in the NYU Program with a concentration in Valuation & Analysis. The Michael F.X. Waters Future Alumni Scholarship was established for the former Director of Academic Affairs and Associate Clinical Professor at the New York University Real Estate Institute. Professor Waters had served the students, faculty, the real estate industry and the NYU community almost from the inception of the graduate program which began in 1989.
The scholarship recognizes a graduate student during the spring/fall term for their writing ability at graduate school level and the complexity of the written subject. The Scholarship is judged and awarded by the New York University Real Estate Institute Alumni Board. One scholarship is awarded per term within a student body of approximately 600 graduate students.
Tom is a graduate of The Citadel, and has had an extensive career in real estate mortgage finance beginning his real estate career as an executive trainee for First Union National Bank (aka Wachovia). Tom is currently employed as an Associate for a Manhattan based real estate advisory firm providing commercial appraisal, due diligence, and consultation for investment banks, commercial banks, pension funds, insurance companies, and private investors on a national basis. Tom is a member and/or affiliated with the following organizations: The Appraisal Institute, American Real Estate Society, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, and the Young Real Estate Professionals of New York.
