2007 Miss Genesee Co. Scholarship Program
September 17, 2006 - Posted in Education News, ScholarshipThe 2007 Miss Genesee County Program (formerly known as Jr. Miss) is being held Saturday evening Sept. 30th, 7 p.m. at the Le Roy Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium , 9300 South St. Rd., Le Roy. The program is presented in Cooperation with the YWCA of Genesee County, Inc.
Fourteen area high school senior girls are in the program which recognizes them for their academic achievements, participation in school and community activities. Judging in the program is Scholastic Achievement 20%, Judges Interviews 25%, Talent 25%, Fitness 15%, Poise, 15%. The Scholastic Judging and the Judges Interviews are completed prior to the actual performance on stage. In reality, the audience does not see 45% of the total judging. They do see Fitness, Talent and the Poise segments on stage, which accounts for 55% of the entire judging process. Susan McEvoy of Batavia is talent coordinator. Rachel O’Geen is opening and fitness choreographer and Caroline Heiman is poise instructor.
The 2007 Miss Genesee County Scholarship winner, runner-ups and category winners will receive cash scholarships. The awards are raised through various fund-raising events. This year the Scholarship Fund is benefiting from the proceeds of a county-wide pop can drive, Krispy Kreme donut sale and a 50/50 raffle. A Clor’s Chicken BBQ will be held Sunday, Sept. 24th at the YWCA, North St. Batavia from 11:30 a.m. until sold out. , A Chinese Auction will be held the night of the show with all proceeds benefiting the Scholarship Fund. The auction will feature a variety of items that have been donated by previous Jr. Miss families and area businesses.
