Wal-Mart donates $3M to Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Wal-Mart Foundation is donating a $3 million, multiyear grant to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the company announced Thursday in Bentonville, Ark.
The company issued its first installment – a check for $640,000 – Thursday during its official announcement, which featured Wal-Mart Stores, USA President and CEO Eduardo Castro-Wright and HSF’s President and CEO Sara Martinez Tucker.
“This investment, coupled with Wal-Mart’s decision to designate HSF as one of their 10 charities of choice for their Associated Giving Campaigns, demonstrates the strength of the partnership we have developed,” Ms. Martinez Tucker said.
In its 31-year history, HSF has awarded more than 78,000 scholarships totaling $195 million to Hispanics from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
