2007 Miss Genesee Co. Scholarship Program

Bonnie Thomas family establishes scholarship

A scholarship fund has been set up in memory of Bonnie Thomas of Monkton, who died Aug. 17, five days after being thrown from a horse during a show.
Thomas, 59, had worked at Garrison Forest School for 18 years.

Tower Hill Lions Gives $500 Scholarship

Tower Hill Lions has given away a $500 scholarship to Shawn Jordan of Pana.

Auscott scholarship on offer

Applications for the prestigious Auscott Scholarship are now being invited. The scholarship is open to students who reside in the Narromine and Warren shires and attend school at Warren, Trangie, Narromine or Dubbo.

National Merit Scholarship

Last fall, 28 students in Naperville School District 203 were named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.

Legislators’ scholarship grants getting close scrutiny

A state commission that approves legislators’ grants is closely reviewing scholarship grants after a legislator pleaded guilty to paying gambling debts with grants disguised as scholarship money.
At a meeting Wednesday, the Executive Commission for Community Service Grants wouldn’t approve legislators’ grants for scholarship money to be sent to foundations associated with two-year or four-year colleges.

Gallagher caps super summer with scholarship
