MANITOWOC - The late Francis and Georgia Ariens have created, through a charitable remainder trust, an endowed scholarship fund at Silver Lake College worth $247,105.

Ariens was the youngest of three sons who worked with their father, Henry, as pioneers in the organization of the Brillion Iron Works. In the mid-1930s, they started the Ariens Company, a manufacturing company that has grown to become a world class provider of outdoor power equipment.

One of Ariens’ most prized responsibilities was to guide the Ariens Foundation, which he did since its inception in 1967 until 1999. He was very involved in dealer and distributor training and ongoing education.

Instrumental in setting up “service schools” within the company facility and throughout the country, Ariens was recognized by his peers and those who directly benefited from his vision as having provided the structure for outstanding training for a generation of talented service mechanics, according to Michael Ariens, chairman of the Ariens Company.
