Treasurer to announce MSU scholarship program
November 23rd, 2006 - Posted in Education, ScholarshipMissouri Treasurer Sarah Steelman will visit Missouri State University this afternoon to announce a new scholarship program aimed at parents who save for college through the state’s 529 College Savings Plan, MOST.
Steelman will make the announcement with MSU President Michael Nietzel at 2 p.m. at the Child Development Center, 609 E. Cherry, on the MSU campus.
The announcement comes about a week after Steelman detailed a new scholarship plan with University of Missouri called University of Missouri MOST Scholarships. That program will provide 80 scholarships of $500 per year for qualifying students of families who have invested through MOST.
MOST, which stands for Missourians Saving for Tuition, is a state-sponsored 529 college-savings plan that can be established for a minimum of $25. Contributions are state-tax deductible.
