Women’s Council gives out scholarship money
November 30th, 2006 - Posted in Education, ScholarshipThe Women’s Council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California held their annual holiday and awards luncheon on Wed., Nov. 29 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks.
This year, the Women’s Council offered a holiday gift bazaar.
At the luncheon, awards and certificates are given to Women’s Council members who have supported the council throughout the year.
Women’s Council also awarded almost $4,500 in scholarships to award recipients. The scholarship winners were announced at the luncheon, where they received their checks.
In addition to the traditional donations Women’s Council also gives to HomeAid; With Love, Grandma; Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence; and Haven Hills each year.
Those who attended the luncheon brought items such as nonperishable food, toys, toiletries and clothing to be donated to families living in shelters supported by the council.
A council spokeswoman said, “Overall, the luncheon (is) an event filled with holiday spirit-giving thanks to those who have been supportive of Women’s Council and giving holiday hope to those who have needed (it) most throughout the year.”
