Chick-fil-A Bowl selects Gwinnett students as scholarship winners

Three Gwinnett County students are among the top 40 high school scholar-athletes and 12 student managers from Georgia picked by the Chick-fil-A Bowl as scholarship winners.
Bryce Dykes of Norcross High School, Kris Swanson of Central Gwinnett High School and Sarah Miller of Central Gwinnett High School were selected based on their grades, school involvement and community service.

The scholarship winners were honored at a scholarship luncheon the day before the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Head coaches and players from The University of Georgia and Virginia Tech football teams were present at the luncheon before the squads matched up in the Georgia Dome Saturday.
The Chick-fil-A Bowl contributed a record $510,000 last year to charities and educational institutions. The Chick-fil-A Bowl has given more than $2.5 million to various charitable organizations over the last eight years.

North Gwinnett ROTC cadets sing with nursing home residents The North Gwinnett High School ROTC cadets entertained the residents of Laurel Baye nursing home with an old-fashioned Christmas carol sing-along.

Led by Cadet Captain Chloe Babcock, the cadets provided song books and piano music for the singing.

The residents enjoyed the occasion, and the cadets plan to visit the residents again soon.
