St. John’s University is launching a new study abroad program this month called, “Discover the World.”

The intensive study program, a first for the Queens-based Catholic university, will take place in Paris, France; Rome, Italy; and Salamanca, Spain. The school is also considering opening satellite locations in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Universities and colleges across New York City have been beefing up their international offerings over the past couple of years by opening satellite campuses around the world in an effort to stay competitive and ultimately attract more high-paying foreign students.

NYU recently launched a couple of programs in Singapore, and many schools are starting joint ventures in China in addition to the usual study abroad locations throughout Europe.
