Williams/Green Families’ Community Scholarship

Nominations are now being accepted from Lafayette Parish teachers and counselors for the annual Williams/Green Families’ Community Scholarship. This is a $1,000 cash award that is presented annually to a high school senior who exhibits leadership traits and commitment to the Lafayette community. It can be used at the college or university of the recipient’s choice to assist in the cost of tuition and related expenses.

To be nominated, students must meet the following criteria:

Have a 2.0 GPA or better, as indicated on a school transcript.

Submit a resume with their name, home address and phone number and a list of their school and civic activities.

Submit a 500-word essay, typed and double-spaced on the importance of community involvement and volunteerism.

Submit three letters of recommendation from non-related individuals familiar with the candidate, such as clergy, teachers, counselors or employers.

Each applicant will be notified individually as to the date and time the Williams/Green Scholarship Committee will meet to interview each candidate and review their application packet.

Applications may also be dropped off at City Hall, located at 705 West University Avenue.
