India: Coaching institute announces scholarship

Adesh Institute of Competitive Examinations would be providing concession to the wards and families of victims of terrorism and slain martyrs of the security forces. This was announced by the director of the institute, Vikas Khanna, during a press conference organized at the Chandigarh Press Club in Sector 27 today. The scholarships would be for coaching for medical and engineering entrance exams, he added.

Khanna said, “The scholarships being offered vary from full exemption of fees to part concession, depending upon the assessment of cases in consideration by the technical review committee. The students scoring higher than 90 per cent would also be considered.”

Khanna added that the faculty has been collected from different parts of the country and the infrastructure would be state of the art.

Another first for the institute, as claimed by Khanna, was topic-wise teaching. “Apart from regular classes, there would be special lectures held for the students who are weak in a particular subject or topic. Visiting faculty members would conduct these classes. The focus would be on specific topics,” Khanna said.

The institute would also hold lectures for Class X students. The batch would be limited to 20 student and they would be prepared for the board exams. For the other batches, the number of students would vary between 30 and 50. An entrance test would be held for selection, he said.
