Rowan-Cabarrus College gets $61K grant

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College has received a $61,109 grant from the N.C. Biotechnology Center.

RCCC will use the funds to develop and conduct “Train the Counselor” workshops under which counselors from community colleges, local four-year colleges, public high schools and area career centers will learn how to advise students and clients on biotechnology-related careers in the Charlotte area.

Based in Research Triangle Park, the N.C. Biotechnology Center seeks to provide long-term economic and societal benefits to North Carolina through support of biotechnology research, business and education statewide.

RCCC provides more than 2,000 courses to 20,000 adult students and offers programs such an associate degree in arts and sciences, an associate degree in applied science, and diploma and certificate programs.
