For high school seniors looking to enter into the growing fields of graphic design and the culinary arts, it takes more than just focus, hard work and dedication to make things happen.

It takes financial resources that aren’t always within reach for many families. And that’s why The Art Institutes system of 32 locations across the U.S. and in North America offer tuition scholarship competition opportunities for high school seniors, offering full and partial tuition scholarships in several program areas.

“We believe in finding the best of the best of talented high school seniors and encouraging them to pursue their professional goals,” says John Mazzoni, President of The Art Institutes.

In the Best Teen Chef Competition, aspiring chefs compete against high school students across North America that hope to some day be professional chefs, caterers, or culinary arts instructors. The Art Institutes offer three full tuition scholarships worth approximately $35,000 to study at any one of 23 Art Institute locations with culinary arts. This competition offers more than $200,000 in tuition scholarships to The Art Institutes.

For students interested in the arts and graphic design, the Poster Design Competition will offer high school seniors a $25,000 tuition scholarship to study graphic design at The Art Institutes. The competition is co-sponsored by Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. Student competitors create poster designs along the theme “Life is Better with Art in it.” In all, more than $100,000 in tuition scholarships to The Art Institutes are awarded to participating students.

The deadline to enter The Best Teen Chef Competition and the Poster Design Competition is February 9, 2007.

Past winners of The Art Institutes scholarship competitions have been featured on The Today Show, CNN, Fox, CBS Early Show and the Channel One Network, and in such publications as CosmoGirl, Seventeen, CollegeBound magazine, Parade and Boys Life.

“Every year we see an increase in the number of students participating in our scholarship competitions and as educators, we’re gratified to see high school seniors energized, excited and willing to work hard to launch their educational and career goals,” says Bruce Dempsey, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs for The Art Institutes.
