In celebration of what would have been the late Farrah Terpak-Hart’s 31st birthday, her husband and sister presented a check for $1,620 to a scholarship fund in her name Monday.

Steve Hart and Tara Terpack Dulke held a cookie sale to raise money for the fund and gave the check to Orange Park High School Principal Mike Wingate.

Terpack-Hart, a 1994 graduate of Orange Park High, was killed in October 2005 when a driver ran a red light, striking her car on Fleming Island.

The college art scholarship was established by employees at the Clay County Line, where she worked as a graphic designer.

A scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating art student from Orange Park High to help keep Terpack-Hart’s artistic spirit alive.

Several family members and friends spent a weekend baking cookies, with the help of the Middleburg Publix, which donated cookie dough.

“Words cannot describe how nice it was to be able to give OPHS a check for … Farrah’s Memorial Scholarship Fund,” Dulke said. “I am thankful for all the support and help we received during our fundraiser. We couldn’t have done it without our family and friends. We will continue to do this every year.”

Hart and his son, Sage, made a separate $1,000 donation to the scholarship fund.

“As sad as it was to spend another of my wife’s birthdays without her, I was at least able to take part in presenting Farrah’s former high school with the proceeds from our first annual fundraiser for her Memorial Scholarship,” Hart said. “I was also happy that I was able to make a donation … I hope to continue donating each year on her birthday.”

Contributions can be mailed to Orange Park High School, Attn: Farrah Terpack-Hart Memorial Scholarship, 2300 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073 or Clay County Line, Attn: Farrah Terpack-Hart Memorial Scholarship, 2233 Park Ave., Suite. 201, Orange Park, FL 32073.
