Philippine: TESDA announces start of PESFA scholarship exam
February 13, 2007 - Posted in Education News, ScholarshipThe Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Southern Leyte Provincial Office announced the conduct of the Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA) Scholarship Aptitude Examination in designated testing centers throughout the province.
TESDA Provincial Director Rolando Juanillo based here reported to PIA that their office had already begun the PESFA exam for deserving students. The program is open to all high school graduating students who are interested to enroll a non-degree programs on technical-vocational courses and who can satisfy the general qualifying requirements of TESDA.
The scheduled exam started last 8th and 9th of February, 2007 yet at Saint Joseph College Vocational Training Center here in the locality. While the other testing venues and dates were as follows: February 12- Silago National High School, Silago; February 13 – Hinunangan National High School, Hinunangan; February 14 – San Juan National High School, San Juan; February 19 – Saint James College of Padre Burgos; February 20 – Himay-angan National High School , Liloan and on February 21 at Sogod National High School of Sogod, all of Southern Leyte.
Juanillo revealed that the qualifier must belong to a family whose annual income is not more than P120,000.00 and in case of exemption in filing the income tax return, the original copy of the certification from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) or a certification from the Barangay Captain certifying that income of parents falls below the taxable amount must be submitted.
Moreover, the examinee must also have at least a general high school grade average of 80% considering that classes is still going on, Juanillo disclosed.
Other requirements for the PESFA scholarship also include a certification from the school principal that the student belongs to the upper 40% of the graduating class and he/she must be of good moral character certified by the school principal, Juanillo said.
