Leon County Commissioner Ed DePuy has matched all gifts made in the memory of his late wife, Linda DePuy, to the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Foundation for a scholarship endowment. Linda DePuy died last year.

He matched $20,000 in gifts for the endowment. The scholarships will go to hospital employees who are seeking degrees in nursing. DePuy said in a written statement that while his wife didn’t work in the heath-care field, she was a caring person who was very involved in the community.

“She would have thought this was a good thing that every year, a man or woman will be able to attend nursing school on scholarship because of her,” DePuy said.

TMH CEO Mark O’Bryant thanked DePuy for the contribution.

“This is a tremendous gift because locally, as well as nationally, there is a shortage of nurses,” he said.
